Businesses with global operations or with multi-layered supply chains will find conducting adequate human rights due diligence challenging. However, blockchain technology can help meet the challenge.

   

The concept of human rights due diligence is at the heart of the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights (UNGPs) and is finding its way into a growing body of legislation around the world1.

Under Principle 17 of the UNGPs, human rights due diligence should include assessing actual and potential human rights impacts, integrating and acting on the findings, tracking responses, and communicating how impacts are addressed.
