Ghana will hold a general election on 7 December 2024 to elect the president and members of parliament.

A president is only able to serve two four-year terms so current President Nana Akufo-Addo of the ruling New Patriotic Party will be stepping down.  Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia will run for the New Patriotic Party against former President John Mahama of the National Democratic Congress.

The president is elected using the two-round system. Members of the unicameral, 275-seat parliament are elected directly in single-member constituencies to serve four-year terms.

The main political parties in Ghana are the New Patriotic Party and the National Democratic Congress.

Ghana has a population of 34.6 million and approximately 17 million registered voters. In the 2020 parliamentary election, voter turnout was 77.8%, while in the presidential election it was 78.8%.
