The Czech Republic is due to hold Senate elections for one-third of the seats in autumn 2024. Senators serve six-year terms.

The current Prime Minister Petr Fiala of the Civic Democratic Party was elected in 2021 and will serve a four-year term.

The main political parties are ANO; Czech Social Democratic Party (CSSD); Christian and Democratic Union-Czechoslovak People's Party (KDU-CSL); Civic Democratic Party (ODS); TOP 09; Czech Pirate Party (CPS); Mayors and Independents (STAN); Freedom and Direct Democracy (SPD). KDU-CSL, ODS and TOP 09 form the Spolu coalition; CPS and STAN form the PaS coalition.

Elections in the Czech Republic are based on principle of universal direct suffrage for party proportional representation, subject to a 5% threshold.

The country will also be voting in the European Parliament elections on 7 and 8 June 2024.

The Czech Republic has a population of 10.5 million and approximately 8.3 million registered voters.  Voter turnout in the 2022 Senate elections was 41.9%. In the 2021 parliamentary election, voter turnout was 65.3%.
