Palau will be holding a general election on 12 November 2024.
Palau has a bicameral National Congress (Olbiil Era Keluau) made up of the House of Delegates and the Senate; 16 members represent the 16 states in the House of Delegates and 9 Senators represent the residential population. Members of the National Congress serve four-year terms. The Senate members are elected by plurarity vote in multi-member constituencies. Every voter may choose as many candidates as there are seats. House of Delegates members are elected by plurarity vote in single member constituencies.
The president is elected by absolute majority through a two round system to serve a four-year term. The current President is Surangel S.Whipps Jr.
Palau has a population of 18,052 and around 16,754 registered voters. Voter turnout in the 2020 election was 60.9%.
