The EUDR aims to protect the environment, biodiversity and reduce global deforestation. Comprehensive due diligence obligations are introduced for the handling of relevant raw materials such as cattle, cocoa, coffee, oil palm, rubber, soy and wood and specific products made thereof. Companies that place, make available or export the relevant products are affected. These products must be deforestation-free, produced in accordance with the legislation of the country of production and covered by a due diligence statement. Violations may result in severe fines as well as recalls or confiscation by the customs authorities.
